Why Academy of Entrepreneurs?

It all started when Paula Mills, our founder, moved from Brazil to South Africa.

South Africa was a beautiful & colourful country. ‘Unsurpassed wildlife and mountains, whales and waterfalls, architecture and antiquity, the world’s most beautiful city, and the world’s most stunning Spring, plus a host of natural treasures make South Africa one of “The Most Beautiful Country In The World” – Buzzfeed

But under this beautiful nature in 1998 there were social class & ethics differences that divided people and limited many from achieving their full potential and having access to new opportunities.

Inspired by Nelson Mandela’s comments; “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”, Paula Mills embarked on a life mission “to empower everyone to believe in themselves, do what they love to make the world a better place”, which after 20 years became the social enterprise today known as Academy of Entrepreneurs.

Our founder then moved to Australia where she volunteered, worked & created award winning communication campaigns for the education industry. “But after 10 years of a lot of disappointment I realised that most institutions’ main priority was just recruiting students. They invested too much of marketing campaigns, and way too little on developing innovative and empowering courses and institutions didn’t build a good enough relationship with the industry.”

Academy of Entrepreneurs was created by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs, with one goal – to empower all its students with the entrepreneurial skills and network to succeed.

“As it was a disruptive idea, no one believed in it. I conducted extensive market research, and yes – there was a market demand. 67% of employed millennial’s wanted to leave the traditional work structure and become self-employed (CreativeLive/Forbes).

To everyone’s surprise, it was a huge success and in the past 4 years we educated students from 50+ nationalities. And in 2019 ALABC award us with Educational Business of the Year.

Classes are taught by entrepreneurs, via workshops & hackathons, where students turn ideas into a business, get individual coaching, get access to our investor network and are surrounded by our global the community of entrepreneurs that open doors and new opportunities for our students every day.
