STUDY NSW, GOOGLE AND ACADEMY OF ENTREPRENEURS POWERTALK ABOUT THE POWER OF PRODUCTIVITY

In collaboration with Study NSW, the Academy of Entrepreneurs has been building and running a series of employability events to help international students find their dream job. The last event was held at Google‘s head office in Pyrmont, Sydney.

Come along as we take you to Google’s Sydney office, for a presentation on productivity tools & tips for international students. Learn also about the power of productivity, goals setting, and why it’s so important for your success.

A presentation started by Paula Mills, the CEO of Academy of Entrepreneurs, talked about the unlimited potential international students have and the importance of setting goals. In Australia, there is currently a lot of support for international students in NSW and many opportunities to make their goals and desired lifestyle possible.

”To achieve your goals, you need “Boss Your Future”, you’re the owner of your future.”

She goes on to talk about how the best thing to do is to find the right tools to realize the goals that have been set. She explained how tools such as Google Calendar, Google forms, email and Drive support her busy life and how she makes the most of them, with concrete examples.

The day continued with the panellist session, Enrique Vargas (Snr. Partner Development Manager) as facilitator, welcomed four panellists from an internal community of Latin Americans : Latin American Employee Resource Group #HOLAFamilia.

Alpha Chan (Partner Manager, Large Customer Sales), Takuya Yamaguchi (Technical Solutions Engineer, Google Cloud), Flavia Yanese (Marketing Associate, YouTube) and Rogelio Montekio (Head of Channel Partners, Google Customer Solutions) shared their experience at Google and related to the topics of productivity.

They each shared knowledge such as taking time to analyze yourself properly, know what you are good at, what you like to do and turning it into a habit. Even if it is just a little bit every day. Do important things in the morning, set aside time for that. Do it first.

As far as possible, get as many qualifications as you can while you are still a student.

The panelists concluded by mentioning the importance of a mindset of learning from mistakes. No matter how prepared you are, things can happen that are beyond your control. When it comes to learning from mistakes, you really have to treat it as a learning experience and give yourself space, that it’s okay to make mistakes because you’re getting something out of it. That in itself is a learning experience. It’s all about a mindset mechanic more than anything.

In the last session, we had with Fernando Sarrabayrouse, a former student of Academy of Entrepreneurs, now a successful entrepreneur in Australia, who shared his journey and tips. His B2B food business, whose mission was about sharing Argentinian culture in Australia through food, was founded in 2020 when COVID happened.

“Believe in yourself, you just motivate yourself. And when you set goals, and you’re celebrating these little wins, everything is possible”

As a CEO, as a founder, it’s your role to set your company in a certain direction. You can hire someone to build your strategy. When you’re starting your strategy, you can start bringing people to collaborate. You can also use Google tools to get help by outsourcing to someone on a freelancing platform.

The students then learned the importance of making a plan for what they want to do, then making a habit out of doing small things and doing them little by little every day. Using Google tools such as Calendar and Drive really helps to manage tasks efficiently and realize their goals.

Over 2 hours, more than 100 participants learned about the power of productivity, goal setting, and why it’s so essential for your success.Participants also enjoyed a tour of the Sydney Google office and the renowned colorful office interior.

So where do you begin if you’re interested in getting into such a company?

Google has an external website called ‘Careers at Google’. On this site, you can find everything from internships to director and vice-president level jobs, you can also view job postings from all over the world. Best of luck with your search!
