STUDY NSW, ACADEMY OF ENTREPRENEURS AND JOIDEA JOIN FORCES
In collaboration with Study NSW, the Academy of Entrepreneurs has been building and running a series of employability events to help international students find their dream job. This time, the Academy of Entrepreneurs teamed with digital marketing agency Joidea, Sydney.
A presentation was given by Ken Mikuni, creative director, Joidea, who spoke of the origins of the company, its culture and where to begin in order to get a job in the tech industry.
Joidea is a digital agency in the IoT technology field, providing technological solutions for their clients including a dining system that allows people to easily pay using QR codes at restaurants.
Shinya Oishi (Joidea), also shared some tips for success with their new platform “My Growth Community”, which provides internship programs, real-time job opportunities for software engineering and professional development for website designers.
Victor L, who is now a full-time employee, got his job, who was once an intern in 2019 and told us his experience from the time he joined until now.
When he first joined the company as a front-end intern, he was able to gain a lot of hands-on experience communicating with cross-functional teams, including the design team. He found that the skills he learned were closely related to the IoT industry and gained a lot of experience on real projects. In addition to that, he felt very fortunate and proud to have met Ken and Ben (the co-founders) and Shinya, through his internship. And was fortunate enough to be sponsored for a 407 (student training) visa.
So where do you begin if you’re interested in getting into such a company?
The website is called “MyGrowth.Community.” On this site, you can find international students and university students to participate in real company projects through internships and real training.
