How to succeed at getting a job with great teams
Today, Academy of Entrepreneurs teamed Koinly, Sydney.
A presentation was given by Adam Saville-Brown, Regional Head, AU, Koinly on his inspirational career, and how he got into startups and established his career. He started with the same as most of the students here in Australia, he was in Mauritius as an international student, where the island mostly spoke French and he had to learn fast in order to learn. It was really difficult growing up there for him because he couldn’t really socialize much with many kids.
Upon career development, he shared some tips for being successful in a startup.
To back yourself, get rid of any limiting beliefs that you can’t do something. Keep pushing yourself until you get it. The next one is to go to as many events as you can to have connections with people who have the same mindset. He mentioned how the startup ecosystem is fantastic. You have great places like Wework to put on events that have always got these networking events to meet people. Tip three is to not take no as an answer, but to do it politely.
If you hear someone say to you: ‘You can’t do it. “, even if they deny it, you really have to think about what you can do and try to act on it.
He shared a story in his talk about how Facebook once refused to accept his CV, but he couldn’t give up, so he bought cupcakes and started handing them out in front of the office and persisted until the employees accepted him. Finally HR passed by, and took him in for an interview! His example shows us that there are paths that can be opened by trying.
Head of Marketing, George also shared some tips of success through his own experience. George shared the key to success is to follow experience rather than money that way, money will follow. And to find something you love and are good at.
He also recommended doing things that keep you feeling energized, nurture your mental health & resilience. Lastly, learn about yourself. ( be selfish in your pursuit of happiness)
