Step 1 to become a successful entrepreneur

Many think that to become successful you need to be innovative, creative or have a lot of money. But the truth is that success comes from inside.

The 1st step towards business success is developing yourself into a leader.

Are you ready to be a leader?

We all have talents and strengths, but how often do we take time to acknowledged or enhance them? How often are you actually using them?

The development of Emotional Intelligence is the most important skills for you to master before starting your entrepreneurial journey. The capacity to be aware of your strengths, control your emotions and to handle interpersonal relationships will empower you to succeed.

As a founder/entrepreneur it is your responsibility to lead your vision and empower your team, customers and stakeholders, so knowing your strengths (and using them) along with a clear vision/mission will put you on the path to success.

But where to start?

My suggestion is to take some time off.

It’s important to disconnect, to be able to connect (with yourself)

Find a place away from distractions, get a blank piece of paper (ideally with no lines) and use your favourite pen.

  • Now, make a list with;
  • What you enjoy doing
  • What you are (really) good
  • What gets you in the flow
  • What your friends, family and colleagues always congratulate you on
  • Your superpowers

(It is important that you are 100% honest with yourself. Only you will see this note. Don’t be shy)

Have you ever noticed that no one ever became the world leader of something they didn’t enjoy doing? What are you waiting for? It’s time for you to use your strengths.

Pick the top thing in your list that you are really good at and enjoy doing, practice practice practice until you become the best at it.

If you are on a budget, download podcasts, Google articles, watch YouTube videos and find 3 mentors.

If you have a little budget, take the Gallup StrengthsFinder Test (USD$49/AUD66) (it will be one of the best investments of your life, trust me!)

If you have a bigger budget, hire a Coach (a Gallup Trained Coach is better)

Now that you mastered the art of acknowledging your strengths, it’s time for you to use them.

Jump onto stage 2.

Connect your strengths with your passion > identify a business opportunity that uses them > and put your idea into a Canvas Business Model.

How did it go?
